1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and
the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without
him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In
him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and
the darkness comprehended it not.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by
him, and the world knew him not.
11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12 But
as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of
God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh,
nor of the will of man, but of God.
14 And
the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his
glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace
and truth.
John 1:1-5, 10-14
1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past
unto the fathers by the prophets,
2 Hath
in these last days spoken unto us by his
Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom
also he made the worlds;
3 Who being the brightness of his glory,
and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of
his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of
the Majesty on high;
4 Being made so much better than the angels,
as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than
they.
5 For unto which of the angels said
he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee?
And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And
let all the angels of God worship him.
Hebrews 1:1-6
16 For God so loved the
world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but
have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world
to condemn the world; but that the
world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but
he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son
of God.
John 3:16-18
6 For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons
of Jacob are not consumed.
7 Even
from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and
have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith
the Lord of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we
return?
8 Will
a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we
robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.
9 Ye are cursed with a
curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.
Malachi 3:6-9
17 Every good
gift and every
perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the
Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we
should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let
every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only,
deceiving your own selves.
23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man
beholding his natural face in a glass:
24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth
his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
25 But
whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he
being not a forgetful hearer, but a
doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. James
1:17-19, 22-24
5 I am
the Lord, and there is
none else, there is no God
beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:
7 I
form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil:
I the Lord do all these things. Isaiah
45:5,7
8 Charity never faileth: but
whether there be prophecies,
they shall fail; whether there be
tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
9 For we know in part, and we
prophesy in part.
10 But when that which is
perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
11 When I was a child, I spake as a child,
I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put
away childish things.
12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face
to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also
I am known.
1 Corinthians 13:8-12
20 I perceive that it has been made
known unto you, by the testimony of his word, that he cannot
walk in crooked paths; neither doth he vary from that which he hath said; neither
hath he a shadow of turning from the right to the left, or from
that which is right to that which is wrong; therefore, his course is one
eternal round. Alma 7:20
30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad. Matthew 12:30
23 He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.
Luke 11:23
27 But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them,
bring hither, and slay them before me. Luke 19:27
2 We saw the Lord standing upon the breastwork of the
pulpit, before us; and under his feet was a paved work of pure
gold, in color like amber.
3 His eyes were as a flame of fire; the
hair of his head was white like the pure snow; his countenance shone above the
brightness of the sun; and his voice was as the sound of the rushing of great
waters, even the voice of Jehovah, saying:
4 I am the first and the last; I am he who liveth, I am
he who was slain; I am your advocate with the Father.
5 Behold, your sins are forgiven you; you are clean before me; therefore, lift up your heads and
rejoice.
Doctrine and Covenants
110:2-5
1 Thus saith the Lord your God, even Jesus
Christ, the Great I Am, Alpha and Omega, the beginning and
the end, the same which looked upon the wide expanse of eternity, and all the
seraphic hosts of heaven, before the world was made; Doctrine and Covenants 38:1
1 We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son,
Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
2 We believe that men will be punished for
their own sins, and not for Adam’s
transgression.
3 We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved,
by
obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel. Articles
of Faith 1,2,3,
35 And the Lord spake unto Enoch, and said unto him: Anoint
thine eyes with clay, and wash them, and thou shalt see. And he did so.
36 And
he beheld the spirits that God had created; and he beheld
also things which were not visible to the natural eye; and from
thenceforth came the saying abroad in the land: A seer hath the Lord raised up
unto his people.
37 And
it came to pass that Enoch went forth in the land, among the people,
standing upon the hills and the high places, and cried with a loud voice, testifying against their works; and all
men were offended because of him.
Moses 6:35-37
55 I observed that they were also among the noble and great ones who were chosen in the
beginning to be rulers in the Church of God.
56 Even before they
were born, they, with many others, received their first lessons in the world of spirits and were
prepared to come forth in the due time of the Lord to labor in his
vineyard for the salvation of the souls of men.
57 I
beheld that the faithful elders of this
dispensation, when they depart from mortal life, continue their labors in the
preaching of the gospel of repentance and redemption, through the sacrifice of the Only Begotten Son of God, among those
who are in darkness and under the bondage of sin in the great world of the
spirits of the dead.
Doctrine and Covenants 138:55-58
31 And behold, the glory of the Lord was upon Moses, so that Moses stood
in the presence of God, and talked with him face to face. And
the Lord God said unto Moses:
For mine own purpose have I made
these things. Here is wisdom and it remaineth in me.
32 And
by the word of my power, have I created them, which is mine Only
Begotten Son, who is full of grace and truth.
33 And worlds without number have I created; and I also created them
for mine own purpose; and by the
Son I created them, which is mine Only Begotten.
34 And the first man of all men have I called Adam, which is many.
35 But only an account of this earth, and the inhabitants thereof, give
I unto you. For behold, there
are many worlds that have passed away by the word of my power. And there
are many that now stand, and
innumerable are they unto man; but all things are numbered unto me, for
they are mine and I know them.
36 And
it came to pass that Moses spake unto the Lord, saying: Be merciful unto thy
servant, O God, and tell me concerning this earth, and the inhabitants
thereof, and also the heavens, and
then thy servant will be content.
39 For
behold, this is my work and my glory—to bring to pass the
immortality and eternal life of man.
40 And now, Moses, my son, I will speak unto
thee concerning this earth upon which thou standest; and thou shalt write the things which I
shall speak.
41 And in a day when the children of men shall esteem my words as
naught and take many of them from the book which thou shalt write, behold, I will
raise up another like unto thee; and they shall be had again among the
children of men—among as many as
shall believe.
42 (These
words were spoken unto Moses in the mount, the name of which shall not be known
among the children of men. And now they are spoken unto you. Show them not unto any except them that
believe. Even so. Amen.) Moses
1:31-35, 36, 39-42
18 But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all
his prophets, that Christ should suffer,
he hath so fulfilled.
19 Repent
ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when
the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before
was preached unto you:
21 Whom
the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all
things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy
prophets since the world began.
22 For Moses truly said unto the
fathers, A prophet shall
the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren,
like unto me; him shall
ye hear in all things
whatsoever he shall say unto you.
23 And
it shall come to pass, that every soul, which
will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.
24 Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after,
as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days. Acts 3:18-24
25 For I know that my
redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day
upon the earth:
26 And though
after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in
my flesh shall I see God:
27 Whom
I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me. Job
19:25-27
10 Wherefore the rather,
brethren, give diligence to make your
calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never
fall:
11 For so an entrance shall be
ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in
remembrance of these things, though ye know them,
and be established in the present truth. 2 Peter 1:10-12
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our
Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in
heavenly places in Christ:
4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the
world,
that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
5 Having
predestinated
us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself,
according to the good pleasure of his will,
6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the
beloved.
7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the
forgiveness of sins,
according to the riches of his grace; Ephesians
1:3-7
7 For God hath not given us the spirit of
fear; but of power, and of love,
and of a sound mind.
8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me
his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel
according to the power of God;
9 Who hath saved us, and called us
with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace,
which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus
Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality
to light through the gospel:
11 Whereunto
I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. 2
Timothy 1:7-11
2 Elect
according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through
sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ:
Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
3 Blessed
be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection
of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 To an inheritance incorruptible,
and undefiled, and that fadeth not
away, reserved in heaven for you,
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without
blemish and without spot:
20 Who
verily was foreordained before the
foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times
for you,
21 Who
by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory;
that your faith and hope might be in God.
1 Peter 1:2-4, 19-21
3 And I saw one of his heads as it were
wounded to death; and his deadly wound
was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
4 And
they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they
worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with
him?
5 And there was given unto him a
mouth speaking great things and blasphemies;
and power was given unto him to
continue forty and two months.
6 And
he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and
his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.
7 And it
was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome
them: and power was given him
over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall
worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the
foundation of the world.
9 If any man have an ear, let him hear. Revelation
13:3-9
8 And I will give unto him a commandment that he shall do none other work,
save the work which I shall command him. And
I will make him great in mine eyes; for he shall do my work.
9 And
he shall be great like unto Moses, whom I have said I would raise up unto you,
to deliver my people, O house of Israel.
10 And Moses
will I raise up, to deliver thy people out of the land of Egypt.
11 But a seer will I raise up out of the
fruit of thy loins; and unto him will I give power to bring forth my word
unto the seed of thy loins—and not to
the bringing forth my word only, saith the Lord, but to the convincing
them of my word, which shall have already gone
forth among them.
2 Nephi 3:8-11
7 And ye are
called to bring to pass the gathering of mine elect; for mine elect hear
my voice and harden not their hearts;
8 Wherefore
the decree hath gone forth from the Father that they shall be gathered in unto one place upon the face
of this land, to prepare their hearts
and be prepared in all things against the day when
tribulation and desolation are sent forth upon the wicked.
9 For
the hour is nigh and the day soon at hand when the earth is ripe; and
all the proud and they that do wickedly shall be as stubble; and I will burn them up, saith
the Lord of Hosts, that wickedness shall not be upon the earth; Doctrine and Covenants 29:7-9
1 Now we beseech
you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ,
and by our
gathering together unto him,
2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by
spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day
shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that
man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above
all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing
himself that he is God.
8 And then
shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the
Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth,
and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
10 And with all deceivableness of
unrighteousness in them that perish; because they
received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should
believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not
the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because
God hath from the beginning chosen you
to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 2:1-4, 8-14
