1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no man that hath seen God.
Because he showeth himself not unto us, therefore there is no God. Behold,
they are corrupt; they have done abominable works, and none of them doeth
good.
2
For the Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, and by
his voice said unto his servant, Seek ye among the children of men, to see
if there are any that do understand God. And he opened his mouth unto the
Lord, and said, Behold, all these who say they are thine. 3
The Lord answered, and said, They are all gone aside, they are together
become filthy, thou canst behold none of them that are doing good,
no, not one. Psalms 14:1-3 Inspired Version By Joseph Smith
8Behold I say unto you, he that denieth these things
knoweth not the gospel of Christ; yea, he has not read the scriptures; if so, he
does not understand them. 9 For do we not read that God is the same
yesterday, today, and forever, and in
him there is no variableness neither shadow of changing? 10 And now, if ye have imagined
up unto yourselves a god who doth vary, and in whom there is shadow of changing,
then have yeimagined up unto yourselves a god who is not a God of miracles.
18 And
who shall say that Jesus Christ did not do many mighty miracles? And
there were many mighty miracles wrought by the hands of the apostles. 19 And
if there were miracles wrought then, why has God ceased to be a God of miracles
and yet be an unchangeable Being? And behold, I say unto you he
changeth not; if so he would
cease to be God; and he ceaseth not to be God, and is a God of miracles. 20 And the reason why he ceaseth to do miracles among the
children of men is because that they dwindle in unbelief, and
depart from the right way, and know not the God in whom they
should trust.
26 And now,
behold, who can stand against the works of the Lord? Who can deny his
sayings? Who will rise up against the
almighty power of the Lord? Who will despise the works of the Lord? Who will despise the children of Christ?
Behold, all ye who are despisers of the
works of the Lord, for ye shall wonder and perish.
27 O then
despise not, and wonder not, but hearken unto the words of the Lord,
and ask the Father in the name of Jesus for what things soever ye shall stand
in need. Doubt not, but be believing,
and begin as in times of old, and come unto the Lord with all your heart, and work
out your own salvation with fear and
trembling before him. 28Be wise in the days of your probation;
strip yourselves of all uncleanness; ask not, that ye may consume it on your lusts, but ask with a firmness unshaken, that
ye will yield to no temptation, but that ye will serve the true
and living God.1 Nephi 9:8-10, 18-20, 26-28
3For it shall come to pass in that day that the churches which are built
up, and not unto the Lord, when the one shall say unto the
other: Behold, I, I am the Lord’s; and the others
shall say: I, I am the Lord’s
and thus shall every one say that hath
built up churches, and not unto the
Lord— 4 And
they shall contend one with another; and their priests shall contend one
with another, and they shall teach with their learning, and deny the Holy
Ghost, which giveth utterance. 5 And
they deny the power of God, the Holy One of Israel; and they say
unto the people: Hearken unto us, and
hear ye our precept; for behold there is no God today, for the Lord and the Redeemer hath done
his work,
and he hath given his power unto men;
7 Yea, and
there shall be many which shall say: Eat, drink, and be merry,
for tomorrow we die; and it shall be well with us. 8 And there shall also be many which shall say: Eat, drink, and be merry; nevertheless,
fear God—he will justify in committing a little sin; yea, lie a little,
take the advantage of one because of his
words, dig a pit for thy neighbor; there is no harm in this; and do all these things, for tomorrow we die;
and if it so be that we are guilty, God
will beat us with a few stripes, and at last we shall be saved in the kingdom
of God. 9 Yea, and there shall bemany which shall teach after this manner, false
and vain and foolish doctrines, and shall be puffed up in their hearts,
and shall seek deep to hide their counsels from the Lord; and their works shall
be in the dark. 10 And the
blood of the saints shall cry from the ground against them.
11 Yea, they haveall gone out
of the way; they have become corrupted. 12 Because
of pride, and because of false teachers, and false doctrine,
their churches have become corrupted, and their churches are lifted up;
because
of pridethey are puffed up. 13 They rob the poor because of their fine
sanctuaries; they rob the poor because of their fine clothing; and they
persecute the meek and the poor in heart, because
in their pride they are puffed up.
14 They wear stiff necks and high
heads; yea, and because of pride, and wickedness, and
abominations, and whoredoms, they have all gone astray save it be a few,
who are the humble followers of Christ; nevertheless,
they are led, that in many instances they do err because they are taught by the
precepts of men.
15 O the wise, and the learned, and the rich,
that are puffed
up in the pride of their hearts, and all those who preach false doctrines, and all those who commit
whoredoms, and pervert the right way of
the Lord, wo, wo, wo be unto them, saith
the Lord God Almighty, for they shall be thrust down to hell!
16 Wo unto them
that turn aside the just for a thing of naught and revile against that which is
good, and say that it is of no worth! For the day shall come that the Lord
God will speedily visit the inhabitants of the earth; and in that day that they are fully ripe in iniquity they
shall perish.
19 For the
kingdom of the devil must shake, and they which
belong to it must needs be stirred up unto repentance, or the devil
will grasp them with his everlasting chains, and
they be stirred up to anger, and
perish; 20 For behold, at that day shall he rage in the hearts of the
children of men, and stir them up to anger against that which is good. 21 And others will he pacify, and lull them
away into carnal security, that they
will say: All is
well in Zion; yea, Zion prospereth, all is well—and
thus the devil cheateth their souls,
and leadeth them away carefully down to hell.2 Nephi 28:3-16, 19-21
30And there shall also be heard of wars, rumors of wars, and
earthquakes in divers places. 31 Yea,
it shall come in a day when there shall be great pollutions upon
the face of the earth; there shall be murders,
and robbing, and lying, and deceivings, and whoredoms, and all manner of
abominations; when there shall be many who will say, Do this, or do that, and it mattereth not, for the Lord will
uphold such at the last day. But wo unto such, for they are in the gall of
bitterness and in the bonds of iniquity. 32 Yea,
it shall come in a day when there shall be churches built up that shall say:
Come unto me, and for your money you shall be forgiven of your sins.
33 O ye
wicked and perverse and stiffnecked people, why have ye built up churches unto yourselves
to get gain? Why have ye transfigured
the holy word of God, that ye might bring damnation upon your souls?
Behold, look ye unto the revelations of God; for behold, the time cometh at
that day when all these things must be fulfilled. 34 Behold,
the Lord hath shown unto me great and marvelous things concerning that which
must shortly come, at that day when these things shall come forth among
you. 35 Behold, I speak unto you as if ye were
present, and yet ye are not. But behold, Jesus Christ hath shown
you unto me, and I know your doing.
36 And I know
that ye do walk in the pride of your hearts; and there are none save a few only who do not
lift themselves up in the pride of
their hearts, unto the wearing of very fine apparel, unto envying, and
strifes, and malice, and persecutions,
and all manner of iniquities; and
your churches, yea, even every one, have become polluted because of the pride
of your hearts. 37 For
behold, ye do love money, and your substance, and your fine apparel, and the
adorning of your churches, more than ye love the poor and the needy,
the sick and the afflicted.
38 O ye pollutions, ye hypocrites, ye
teachers, who sell yourselves for that which will canker, why have ye
polluted the holy church of God? Why are ye ashamed
to take upon you the name of Christ? Why do ye not think that greater is the
value of an endless happiness than
that misery which never dies—because of the praise of the world? 39 Why do ye adorn yourselves with that which hath no life, and yet
suffer the hungry, and the needy, and the naked, and the sick and the afflicted
to pass by you, and notice them not?
40Yea, why
do ye build up your secret abominations to get gain, and cause
that widows should mourn before the Lord, and also orphans to mourn before the
Lord, and also the blood of their fathers and their husbands to cry unto the
Lord from the ground, for vengeance upon your heads? 41 Behold, the sword of vengeance hangeth over you;
and the
time soon cometh that he avengeth the blood of the saints upon you,
for he will not suffer their cries any longer. Mormon

1Thus saith the Lord your God, even Jesus Christ, the Great I
Am, Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the same which looked upon the wide expanse of
eternity, and all the seraphic hosts of heaven, before the world was
made; 2 The same which knoweth all things, for all things are present before mine
eyes; 3 I
am the same which spake, and the world was made, and all things came by me.
7 But behold, verily, verily, I say unto you that mine eyes
are upon you.
I am in your midst and ye cannot see me; 8 But the
day soon cometh that ye shall see me, and know that I am;
for the veil of darkness shall soon be rent, andhe that is not purified shall not abide the day. 9 Wherefore, gird up your loins and be prepared. Behold,
the kingdom is yours, and the enemy shall not overcome. 10 Verily I say unto you, ye are clean, but not all; and there is none else with
whom I am well pleased; 11 For all flesh is corrupted before me; and the
powers of darkness prevail upon the earth, among the children of men,
in the presence of all the hosts of heaven— 12 Which
causeth silence to reign, and all eternity is pained, and the
angels are waiting the great command to reap down the earth, to gather
the tares that they may be burned;
and, behold, the enemy is combined.
22 Wherefore, hear my voice and follow me, and
you shall be a free people, and ye shall have no laws but my laws when I
come, for I am your lawgiver, and what can stay my hand? 23 But, verily I say unto you, teach one another according to the
office wherewith I have appointed you; 24 And let every man esteem his brother as
himself, and practice virtue and
holiness before me.
28 And again, I say unto you that the enemy in the secret chambers seeketh
your lives. 29 Ye hear of wars in far countries, and
you say that there will soonbe great wars in far countries, but ye know not the hearts of men in your own
land. 30 I tell you these things because of your
prayers; wherefore, treasure up wisdom in your bosoms, lest the wickedness of men reveal these
things unto you by their wickedness, in a manner which shall speak in your
ears with a voice louder than
that which shall shake the earth; but if ye
are prepared ye shall not fear. Doctrine and Covenants 38:1-3, 7-12, 22-24,
28-30
1Verily, thus saith the Lord: It shall come to pass
that every soul who forsaketh his sins and cometh unto me, and calleth on my name, and
obeyeth my voice, and keepeth my commandments, shall see
my face and know that I am;
30 All truth
is independent in that sphere in which God has placed it, to act
for itself, as all intelligence also; otherwise there is no existence. 31 Behold,
here is the agency of man, and here is the condemnation of
man; becausethat which was from the beginning is plainly
manifest unto them, and they receive
not the light. 32 And every man whose spirit receiveth not the light is under
condemnation. 33 For
man is spirit. The elements are eternal, and spirit and element, inseparably
connected, receive a fulness of joy; 34 And when separated, man cannot receive a
fulness of joy. 35 The
elements are the tabernacle of God; yea, man is the tabernacle of God,
even temples; and whatsoever temple
is defiled, God shall destroy that temple. 36 The glory of God is intelligence, or, in other words,
light and truth. 37 Light and truth forsake that evil one.
38 Every spirit of man was
innocent in the beginning; and God
having redeemed man from the fall, men became again, in their infant state,
innocent before God. 39 And
that wicked one cometh and taketh away light and truth, through disobedience,
from the children of men, and because of the tradition of their fathers. 40 But I have commanded you to bring up your children in light and truth.
41 But verily I say unto you, my
servant Frederick G. Williams, you
have continued under this condemnation; 42 Youhave not taught your children light and truth, according to the
commandments; and that wicked one hath power, as yet, over you, and
this is the cause of your affliction. 43 And now a commandment I give unto you—if you will be delivered you
shall set in order your own house, for there are many things that are not right
in your house.Doctrine and Covenants 93:1, 30-43
18Whatever
principle of intelligence we attain unto in this life, it will
rise with us in the resurrection. 19 And if a person gains more knowledge and
intelligence in this lifethrough his diligence and
obedience than another, he will have so much the advantage in the world to come. 20 There is a law, irrevocably decreed in heaven before the
foundations of this world, upon which all blessings are predicated— 21 And
when we obtain any blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon
which it is predicated.
22 The Father
has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s; the Son also; but the
Holy Ghost has not a body of flesh and bones, but is a personage of
Spirit. Were it not so, the Holy Ghost could not dwell in us. 23 A
man may receive the Holy Ghost, and it may descend upon him
and not tarry with him. Doctrine
and Covenants 130:18-23
1Now
behold, I, Jarom, write a few words according to
the commandment of my father, Enos, that our genealogy may be kept. 2 And as these plates are small, and as
these things are written for the intent of the benefit of our brethren the
Lamanites, wherefore, it must needs be
that I write a little; but I shall not write the things of my
prophesying, nor of my revelations. For what could I write more than my fathers
have written? For have not they revealed the plan of salvation? I say unto you, Yea;
and this sufficeth me. 3 Behold, it is expedient that much should be done
among this people, because of the hardness of their hearts, and
the deafness of their ears, and the blindness of their minds, and
the stiffness of their necks; nevertheless, God is exceedingly merciful
unto them, and
has not as yet swept them off from the face of the land. Jarom
1:1-3
4Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. 5 Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest?or who hath stretched the line upon it? 6 Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; 7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? Job 38:4-7
17And it shall come to pass in the
last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit
upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and
your young men shall see visions, and
your old men shall dream dreams: 18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of
my Spirit;
andthey shall
prophesy:
19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and
signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood,
before that great and notable day of the Lord come: 21 And it shall come to pass, that
whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.Acts
2:17-21
