Leland, I wanted to forward this email to you,
as I started to have an interesting conversation with a man about the law,
when he began to question somewhat sarcastically what
God is, and if anyone had a definition of God, and then this man stated
to me that I had not investigated the beliefs I carry with me, and that my
metaphysics were incorrect. Well, he barked up the wrong tree, and
I felt
impressed to write the following to Bob because of what he wrote to me below.
Hi Tom,
I took my book off the market because people were reading
it without concern for its underlying metaphysics. We cannot move forward in our
lives or reclaim the rights we actually haven't ever had without realignment of
our metaphysics. Metaphysics has to do with the 1st order or principle of
things. Get the metaphysics right and all else falls into place. The difficulty
is that most people don't want to check their metaphysics--for example you
say that you are not equal to God. Where does that idea come from?
Who said
that? Anyway, what is God? Anyone out there have a definition of God? We carry
around these beliefs without investigation--without correct premises to even
check them off of. So, there you go. You have to correct your metaphysics. Bob
First
Bob,
I'm not familiar with the Metaphysics of your book, It would be very
interesting to know, but I am aware of Metaphysics in general and with regard to
ourselves. However, Metaphysics encompasses a vast number of sciences: Ontology,
Anthroposophy, Pneumatology and even Theodicy - a science which treats of the
existence of God, his essence and attributes. Pneumatology deals with the
properties or principles of the spiritual things, and I believe we wrongly or
ignorantly neglect it to our own demise. The first order of things which you
refer to however, deals primarily with natural bodies and 'physics', which is
more obvious to us, and then follows the second order of the things or the mind
and intelligence (and spiritual). Now I am by no means an expert on these
things, but I have learned a lot, both from the natural and the spiritual aspect
of these things. ---By the way to interject a thought here, I am very much
enjoying the exchange of these emails with you. =) ---
Now, you seem to imply that I have not investigated these beliefs which I carry
around. Specifically you pose the questions, and I quote: "
for example you say that you
are not equal to God. Where does that idea come from? Who said that? Anyway,
what is God? Anyone out there have a definition of God?"
I have investigated God most of my life, and with more seriousness and desire
than most people I have met or known. I will answer these questions from what I
have learned, although not from the perspective of the first order of things
above, but rather through the second order of things, as I believe one day
people will come to discover that the second order of things will undoubtedly
verify, prove and uphold the first order.
1 Corinthians 15: 45- 46: “And
so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was
made a quickening spirit. Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but
that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.”
I am not sure that you will be accepting of
what I present, because it will not be deemed as tangible proof to you, but
perhaps you will indulge it anyway.
I must first start with the idea of belief, which
I equate to a principle called faith. Faith is a
hope of things which are not seen, but which are true, but faith is
not a perfect knowledge of an idea or belief either.
Faith must be centered in God and Jesus Christ. Now from a scientific
standpoint you could equate faith to a hypothesis, or an idea, only with the
difference that with the hypothesis it is not known if the idea is true or not,
so a series of experiments is done to prove or disprove the idea.
However from a spiritual standpoint, truth has always
existed, and always will, independent of whether one believes in it or not.
This is a difficult idea for the scientific world to grasp, and is often
rejected. This brings mention of another principle called agency, many
people have their own idea of God and it does not fit with anyone else's idea of
God; we can choose to believe in falsehood and think it is
true, even when it is not, while the truth still exists simultaneously,
all the while. Faith, however is an extraordinary
principle, because as you nourish the idea or belief then your faith
begins to grow, as it grows more evidence of the hope in the idea or belief is
manifested until you reach the point that you no longer have the belief or idea,
but you have a perfect knowledge of it.
This is the way that God manifests himself unto men who
pursue Him. However I am getting ahead of myself, please bear with me.
It is also known by men of faith that the hearing or
the reading of the word of God causes faith to
increase. Faith also increases when one has actual knowledge that the
course he has pursued in acceptable to God.
I will use some scriptures to help give some background to what I present here.
If you are not a believer in the scriptures, then
perhaps all of this is vain, but to accept
truth you must be open minded.
1 Peter 1: 5 “Who
are kept by the power of God through faith
unto salvation ready to be revealed in
the last time.” Now Faith
works in all aspects of life, and it is a principle of power, unawares to many
who utilize the principle.
For example, we walk by faith. We see our parents do
it, we believe (or have faith) that we
can do it and so put our effort (or works) with that belief, and we stumble and
fall. If we quit there then our faith would die and we would not walk, but many
of us don't, because we are determined and we believe we can still do it despite
our fall, so we get up and put the effort forth again and again until we walk.
Why does a man plant a seed in a field if he did not
believe it would grow and produce. And yet not all seeds will grow when
planted. In the New Testament we read what
James 2:14,17,18, 20,22,24,26 tells us about Faith:
“14 What
doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not
works? can faith save him?
17 Even
so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
18 Yea,
a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith
without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
20 But
wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
22 Seest
thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made
perfect?
24 Ye
see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
26 For
as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead
also.”
Where there
is true faith one can expect the manifestation
of miracles, visions, dreams, healings, and all the gifts of God that he gives
to his (true) saints. So, enough on faith for
now.
Now to the question What is God? The basic common
answer is that He is the Supreme Being, the Creator of the Universe, all
powerful, all knowing, etc. I start with this because whether or not I am equal
with God is definitely dependent on the idea of what God really is.
However, both questions can be addressed together. The scriptures in Genesis say
that God created the Heavens and the Earth, and everything in them, and
also man in his own image.
This would seem to imply some equality, if we understand that being created in
His image, means that God is in the form of a man,
and therefore we appear to be like him.
The book of Revelation says that God is the Alpha and the Omega, and the
beginning and the ending. This doesn't really tell us who or what God is though.
The origin of most language stems from Hebrew, Greek and/or Latin, so going to
Strong's Concordance, the Hebrew word for God,
# 430, which is pronounced elohiym {el-o-heem'}
and defined first as: "(plural) a) rulers, judges, b) divine
ones , c) angels, d) gods." This
denotes a council of Gods or rulers and judges, etc., meaning that a
body or group of such beings are 'collectively'
referred to as God, and that they rule the heavens and the earth,
and are omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient,
or all powerful, all encompassing, and all knowing.
These statements alone would prove I am not equal to
God, I certainly don't know everything, can't be everywhere, nor am I all
powerful as God is. (There is a second definition in the plural
intensive, singular also: (plural intensive - singular meaning: a) god, goddess,
b) godlike one, c) works or special possessions of God , d) the (true) God, e)
God.
However this 2nd definition does not really give descriptive meaning, other than
referring back to the word itself.) However, I will say that I am a son of God,
and therefore can obtain all that God has, and therefore I have no problem
saying I am a god or a god in embryo, if you will, who has the full potential
to become a God.
In John 10:34, "Jesus answered them, Is it not written
in your law, I said, Ye are
gods?" and in 35,
"If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God
came, and the scripture cannot
be broken;" Now these statements by Jesus were very offensive to the
Jews, because they accused Jesus (a man) of making himself God, but they had
no idea what he was referring to, and were rather eager to punish the alleged
crime of blasphemy.
Now, there are as many interpretations of the Bible perhaps as there are people,
it is not my desire to debate them, but rather I have learned a key by which I
may understand the scriptures, that key is no interpretation at all, understand
it precisely as it reads. By this understanding of Gods, and it is a very small
piece, as I could relate many more scriptures and teachings that relate the Idea
and Character of God, this conveys not that I am equal to God, but that I may
become equal to Him.
Now, I want to say something of
the ideas that God is all knowing, and ever present.
It is somewhat known that spiritual substance is
of a finer or more refined material that is not visible
to the naked eye. I also believe that this is the case with celestial
bodies in the heavenly sense. The scriptures refer often to the Spirit of the
Lord, or the Spirit of God, or the Holy Ghost. After much investigation into
this topic, I have thus far concluded that this finer substance called spirit is
intricately woven into all the fabric of the creations of God, so that when any
event, even of the smallest insignificance occurs in or to one of those
creations, God immediately knows it, as much as to cast a small pebble into a
perfectly still pond, watching as the ripples reverberate outward in greater
rings until they reach the edge where they ultimately go no farther. God is
able to discern and comprehend all things through the ripples that occur in the
fabric of the spirit with the greatest of clarity, for
example, the claim in Matthew 10:30: " But the
very hairs of your head are all numbered." or in Luke 21:18 to his disciples:
"But there shall not an hair of your head perish," and in other scripture
here quoted: " And any man
that shall go and preach this gospel of the kingdom, and fail not to continue
faithful in all things, shall not be weary in mind, neither darkened, neither in
body, limb, nor joint; and a hair of his head shall not fall to the ground
unnoticed. And they shall not go hungry, neither athirst." Have you
tried to number the hair of your head, let alone others? How else, but by the
fabric of the Spirit element woven into all things, could such intricate
knowledge of things at any given time be possible. Further , I would suggest to
you that it is this Spirit element that indeed holds together all other
elements, and is the source whereby when God commands, such things are
accomplished, such as if God should say unto this mountain be removed, and it
would be removed. However faith is a vital element to have command of such
power, albeit not the only element.
For example in 2nd Kings 6: 5-7, when Elisha caused the axe to swim, or float
back to the top after it had sunk. The same power which caused the axe head to
sink, also caused it to rise. This is the spirit element, applied with faith,
this is how all things become possible with God. I believe one day
people will finally see that ALL things will testify of God, for they truly obey
his command.
God is an exalted man, has a body of flesh and bone, we
are created in his form or image.
I also know that He has provided for
those that seek him diligently, in faith, may see
His face, and know that He is, and talk with Him as one man speaketh with
another, face to face. I have sought this course myself and have great faith
that I will also one day do this, as the
prophets of old as well as present have done.
Job 19: 26: And though after my skin worms destroy
this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:
God sees and has Eyes: Deuteronomy 11: 12 “A land which the LORD thy God careth
for: the eyes of the LORD thy God are
always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.”
God hears and has Ears: 2 Samuel 22: 7 “In my distress
I called upon the LORD, and cried to my God: and he
did hear my voice out of his temple, and
my cry did enter into his ears.”
God Breaths and has Nostrils: Job 4: 9 “By the blast of God they perish, and by
the breath of his nostrils are they
consumed.”
Genesis 2: 7 “And the LORD God formed
man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into
his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”
God Speaks and has a Mouth and lips: 1 Kings 8: 15 “And he said, Blessed be
the LORD God of Israel, which spake with his mouth
unto David my father, and hath with
his hand fulfilled it, saying.”
Job 11: 5 “But oh that God would speak, and open
his lips against thee.”
God has a Heart: Ezekiel 28: 6 “Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD;
Because thou hast set thine heart as the heart of
God.”
God Has Fingers and Hands: Exodus 31: 18 “And he gave unto Moses, when he had
made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony,
tables of stone, written with the finger of God.”
Job 19: 21 “Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends;
for the hand of God hath touched me.”
God has Arms: Job 40: 9 “Hast thou an arm like
God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?”
Jeremiah 32: 17 “Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast
made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm,
and there is nothing too hard for thee.”
God has feet: Exodus 24: 10 “And they saw the God of Israel: and there was
under his feet as it were a paved work of
a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness.”
I think the above represents, in the
form of man, about the best definition
of God
you will ever find. However for those who will still not believe, the
day is coming when they shall know without doubt who God is, but I fear that to
wait for this time shall be far too late. For we will all be restored to our
perfect frame.
The Prophet Joseph Smith said:
“In the beginning, the head of the Gods called
a council of the Gods; and they
came together and concocted [prepared] a plan to
create the world and people it. When we begin to learn
this way, and what kind of a being we have got to worship. Having
knowledge of God, we begin to know how
to approach Him, and how to ask so as to receive
an answer.” (Joseph Smith,
Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith,

King Follett Discourse D.H.C. 6:
303-317 T. P. J. S. 342-362
”These are incomprehensible ideas to
some, but they are simple.
It is the first (1st.) principle of the gospel to know for a
certainty the character of God,
and to know that we may converse with Him as one man converses with another,
and that He was once a man like us;
yea, that God himself, the Father of us all, dwelt on
an earth, the same as Jesus Christ Himself did; and I will show it from
the Bible.”

6: 305) T. P. J.
S. 345-346
“In the very beginning the Bible shows there is a
plurality of Gods beyond the power of refutation. It is a great
subject I am dwelling on. The word
Eloheim
ought to be in the plural all the way through—Gods. The heads of
the Gods appointed one
God for us; and when you take [that] view of the subject, its sets one
free to see all the beauty, holiness and perfection of the Gods. All I want is
to get the simple, naked truth, and the whole truth.”
T.P.J.S. 372
Book of Mormon: Alma 11: 43-44
“The spirit and the body shall be reunited again in its perfect form; both limb
and joint shall be restored to its proper frame, even as we now are at this
time; and we shall be brought to stand before God,
knowing even as we know now, and have a bright recollection of all our guilt.
44 Now, this restoration shall come to all,
both old and young, both bond and free, both male and female, both the wicked
and the righteous; and even there shall not so much as a hair of their heads
be lost ; but every thing shall be restored to its perfect frame, as it is
now, or in the body, and shall be brought and be arraigned before the bar of
Christ the Son, and God the Father, and the Holy
Spirit , which is one Eternal God, to be
judged according to their works, whether they be good or whether they be evil.”
I hope you were sincere in your questions about the existence and definition of
God. I do not take the things of God, nor God Himself lightly. I have answered
your questions with an open and honest heart, sincerely. I will be awaiting
your response. Tom May 2007

Webster's Dictionary says that a
"Slave" is one who is owned by another, one dominated by some influence.
We are slaves to our traditions. Slavery is
bondage. Blindly dependent.
A little boy was visiting his grandparents on
their farm. He was given a slingshot to play with out
in the woods. He practiced in the woods, but he could
never hit the target. Getting a little discouraged, he
headed back for dinner. As he was walking back he saw
Grandma's pet duck. Just out of impulse, he let the
slingshot fly, hit the duck square in the head and
killed it.
He was
shocked and grieved! In a panic, he hid the
dead
duck in the wood pile; only to see his sister
watching! Sally had seen it all, but she said nothing.
"After lunch the next day Grandma said, "Sally, let's
wash the dishes." But Sally said, "Grandma, Johnny
told me he wanted to help in the kitchen." Then she
whispered to him, "Remember the duck?" So Johnny did
the dishes.
Later that day, Grandpa asked if the children wanted
to go fishing and Grandma said, "I'm sorry, but I need
Sally to help make supper." Sally just smiled and
said, "Well that's all right because Johnny told me he
wanted to help." She whispered again, "Remember the
duck?" So Sally went fishing and Johnny stayed to help.
After several days of Johnny
doing both his chores and
Sally's, he finally couldn't stand it any longer.
He
came to Grandma and confessed that he had killed
the
duck. Grandma knelt down, gave him a hug and
said,
"Sweetheart, I know. You see, I was standing at
the
window and I saw the whole thing, but
because I love
you, I forgave you. I was just wondering
how long you
would let Sally make a slave of you."
Whatever is in your past, whatever you have done, and
the devil keeps throwing it up in your face (lying,
cheating, debt, fear, bad habits, hatred, anger,
bitterness, etc.). Whatever it is.....you need to
know that God was standing at the window and He saw
the whole thing. He has seen your whole life. He
wants you to know that He loves you and that you are
forgiven. He's just wondering how long you will let the devil
make a slave of you. Would you like to be baptized and start with a new
beginning?
You just need to forget your traditions of slavery. Re-think what you see here
on my web site.
Why ignore the truth any longer? You are stopped, "Damned" until you change and
begin anew.
So do you think that God is not watching what you do?
Do you understand that you are a slave to your
traditions?
