Calling and Election
Sure # 10
I think that everyone understands what
it is to be a Gold Medal winner
at the Olympics.
To be named as the best
of the best.
At the very top and have nobody else with you. As we
understand the Doctrine and Covenants tells us:
“Whatever principle of intelligence we attain unto in this life, it will
rise with us in the resurrection.
19
And if a person gains more knowledge and intelligence in this life through his
diligence and obedience than another, he will have so much the advantage in the
world to come.
20
There is a law,
irrevocably
decreed
in heaven before the foundations of this world,
upon which all blessings are predicated—
21 And when we obtain any blessing from God, it is by obedience
to that law upon
which it is predicated.
22 The Father has a body of flesh and
bones as tangible as man's; the Son also; but the Holy Ghost has not a body of
flesh and bones, but is a personage of Spirit. Were it not so, the Holy Ghost
could not dwell in us.
23 A man may receive the Holy
Ghost, and it may descend upon him
and not tarry with him.”
Doctrine and Covenants 130:
18-23
So we understand that a person “may”
receive the Holy Ghost and then reject
the spirit of truth and the holy Ghost will leave them.
Then they can’t tell what is
the truth and what is a plain bold faced
lie.
God has said that he would send them strong delusion.
Just as a person can’t just sit on the couch and become a Olympics champion, you
can’t reject
the truth
and become perfect.
So do you think that a person can decide to be a Gold Medal winner at
some Olympics and train for a few months and really compete with others who has
spent years developing the skills to become perfect. Just desire to be a winner
is not enough. Practice, practice, practice, practice, until
every tiny flaw is overcome is what makes someone perfect.
Why do you do everything that you do? Is it for
personal gain? To make your life better? -- Do this test for yourself all of
the time. Ask yourself this question: “Would I do this for (to) some small child
that was a stranger to me?” When you know that the child has nothing to give you
in return. Decide who you will serve. Yourself or others of God’s children.
Would you have done as Brigham Young, and Heber C. Kimball and others did and
left your families to go on a mission across the Sea, because God had called
you, or would you have said:
“Well I would like to go but I have a wife and kids to support.
Bills to pay,
and my family needs me.” So do you really think that Brigham and Heber didn’t?
How much faith do you really have? See you are not as perfect as they were, huh!
What about you women, what would you say if your man got a call to do what God
has commanded and you are left to yourself for a season?
Do you really want a
man who will put God first and you second? What if he is called to do what you
don’t want?
You have been called and NOT chosen yet.
Will you answer the call?
If not then don’t expect to be chosen. Gold Medal winners practice their skills
every day for hours in what they do to become perfect.
And you are not stupid. Huh!
Winners win not just for what they have done,
but for what they have become. Many practice
keeping the commandments but do not internalize the reasons and become
champions.
Celestial glory is not what you have
done but what you have become. But God has given
the commandments as the “Only” way to develop into that kind of person.
“For they were set to be a light unto the world, and to be the saviors of men;
10 And inasmuch as
they are not
the saviors of men, they are as salt that
has lost its savor, and is thenceforth good for nothing
but to be cast out and trodden under foot of men. (You
may walk on the ashes of many leaders who are to smart to obey
the simple rules that God has commanded.
to see that.)
11
But verily I say unto you, I have decreed that your brethren which have been
scattered shall return to the lands of their inheritances, and
shall build up the waste
places of Zion.
12
For
after much tribulation,
as I have said unto you in a former commandment, cometh
the blessing.” Doctrine and Covenants 103:
9-12
You understand what “much
tribulation” really means
by coming here to my web site, huh! Others
will be caught sleeping and be
surprised at the “waste
places of Zion” that need to be rebuilt
huh.
“And the redemption of the soul
is through him that quickeneth all things, in whose bosom it is decreed that the
poor and the meek of the earth shall inherit it.
18
Therefore, it must needs be sanctified from all unrighteousness, that it may
be prepared for the celestial glory;
19
For after it hath filled the measure of its creation,
it shall be crowned with glory, even with the presence of God the Father;
20
That bodies who are of the
celestial kingdom may possess it forever and ever;
for, for this intent was it made and created, and for this intent are they
sanctified. (Millions
of good women never get a chance to fulfill the measure of their creation
because nobody ever asked them to marry.
CLICK HERE to see what is
correct doctrine from the Lord.)
21 And they who are
not sanctified through the law which I have given unto you,
even the law of Christ,
must inherit another kingdom, even that of a terrestrial
kingdom, or that of a telestial kingdom. (Most people
will not get celestial glory,
God has said.)
22
For he (she) who is
not able to abide the law of
a celestial kingdom
cannot abide a celestial
glory.
23
And he who cannot abide the law of a terrestrial kingdom cannot abide a
terrestrial glory.
24
And he who cannot abide the law of a telestial kingdom
cannot abide a telestial glory; therefore he is not meet for a kingdom of
glory. Therefore he must abide a kingdom which is not a kingdom of glory.
25
And again, verily I say unto you, the earth abideth the
law of a celestial kingdom, for it filleth the measure of its creation, and
transgresseth not the law-
26
Wherefore, it shall be sanctified; yea,
notwithstanding it shall die, it shall be quickened again, and shall abide the
power by which it is quickened, and the righteous shall inherit it.
27
For notwithstanding they die, they also shall rise again, a spiritual body.
28
They who are of a
celestial spirit shall receive the
same body which was a natural
body;
even ye shall receive your bodies, and your glory shall be that glory by which
your bodies are quickened.
29 Ye who are quickened by a
portion of the celestial glory shall then receive of the same, even
a fulness.
30 And they who are quickened by a portion
of the terrestrial glory shall then receive of the same, even a fulness.
31
And also they who are quickened by a portion of the telestial glory shall then
receive of the same, even a fulness.
32
And they who remain shall also be quickened; nevertheless, they shall return
again to their own place, to enjoy that which they are
willing to receive, because they were not willing to enjoy that which they might
have received.
33
For what doth it profit a man if a gift is bestowed upon
him, and he receive not the gift?
Behold, he rejoices not in that which is given unto him, neither rejoices in him
who is the giver of the gift.
34
And again, verily I say unto you, that which is governed
by law is also preserved by law and perfected and sanctified by the same.
35
That which breaketh a law, and abideth not by law, but seeketh to become a law
unto itself, and willeth to abide in sin, and altogether abideth in sin, cannot
be sanctified by law, neither by mercy, justice, nor judgment. Therefore, they
must remain filthy still.
36 All kingdoms have a law
given; (What
kingdom do you want?)
37 And there are many kingdoms; for there
is no space in the which there is no kingdom; and there is no kingdom in which
there is no space, either a greater or a lesser kingdom.
38 And unto every kingdom is
given a law; and
unto every law there are certain bounds also and conditions.
39 All beings who abide
not
in those conditions are not justified.
40 For intelligence cleaveth unto
intelligence; wisdom receiveth wisdom; truth embraceth truth; virtue loveth
virtue; light cleaveth unto light; mercy hath compassion on mercy and claimeth
her own; justice continueth its course and claimeth its own;
judgment goeth before the face of him who sitteth upon
the throne and governeth and executeth all things.”
Doctrine
and Covenants
88: 17-40
Who can not say when they read that statement of revelation from the Prophet
Joseph Smith back in 1832 and 1833, which explains what Jesus said,
that Joseph Smith was not a inspired prophet?
Jesus said:
“In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were
not so, I would have told you.
I go to prepare a place for you.”
John 14:
2
“Let not your hearts be troubled; for
in my Father's house are
many mansions,
and I have prepared a place for you; and where my Father and I am, there ye
shall be also.
19
Behold,
I, the Lord, am not well pleased with
many who are in the church at Kirtland;
20
For they do not forsake their
sins, and their wicked ways, the
pride of their hearts,
and their covetousness, and all their
detestable things, and observe the words
of wisdom and eternal life which I have
given unto them.
21 Verily I say unto you, that
I, the Lord, will chasten them
and will do whatsoever I list, if they do not repent
and observe all things whatsoever I have said
unto them.
22
And again I say unto you,
if ye
observe to do
whatsoever I command
you, I, the Lord,
will turn away
all
wrath
and indignation from you,
and the gates of hell shall not prevail against you.”
Doctrine and Covenants
98: 18-22
What did you just read about the gates of
hell prevailing
because
people do not
repent
and do
what is commanded?
“And by this you may know the righteous
from
the wicked, and that the whole world
groaneth under sin and darkness even now.
54
And your minds in times past have been darkened because
of unbelief, and because you have treated lightly the things you have
received—
55
Which vanity and unbelief have
brought the whole church under condemnation.
(Wow! Can that mean all of us?)
56
And this condemnation resteth
upon the children of Zion,
even all. (Yes all of us!)
57
And they shall remain under this condemnation
until
they repent and remember the new covenant,
even the Book of Mormon and the former commandments which I have given them,
not only to say,
but
to do according to that which
I have written—
58
That they may bring forth fruit meet for their
Father's kingdom; otherwise
there remaineth a scourge and judgment to be poured out upon the children of
Zion.
59
For shall the children of the kingdom pollute my holy land? Verily, I say unto
you, Nay.
60 Verily, verily, I say unto
you who now hear my words, which are my voice, blessed are ye inasmuch as you
receive these things;
61 For I will forgive you of your sins
with this commandment—that you remain steadfast in your minds in solemnity and
the spirit of prayer, in bearing testimony to all the
world of those things
which are communicated
unto you.
62
Therefore, go ye into all the world; and unto whatsoever place ye cannot go ye
shall send, that the testimony may go from you into all the world unto every
creature.”
Doctrine and Covenants
84: 53-62
That just said
when people
do not obey
all
that has been commanded
that their children are
polluting this holy land and there remaineth a
scourge and judgment to
be poured out upon us!
Even the whole church!
Because of
vanity and unbelief. You are to blame,
because you are not
righteous. You are wicked he
said. You can read what the iron rod
says but you will not hold on to it and obey all
that has been communicated
unto you.
So have you repented yet and done all that has been commanded? Nope and you are
just thinking about it now. You are still under condemnation huh!
Brigham Young said: “If the
Lord was disposed to let Joseph lead the people astray, for He had called him
and instructed him to gather Israel and
restore the Priesthood and kingdom to them.
It was not my prerogative to call him in question
with regard to any act of his life.
He was God's servant, and not mine.
He did not belong to the people but to the
Lord, and was doing the work of the Lord, and if He
should suffer him to lead the people astray, it would be because they
ought to be led
astray.
If He should suffer them to be chastised, and some of them destroyed, it would
be because they deserved it, or to accomplish some righteous purpose.
That was my faith, and it is my faith still.” Brigham
Young “1857” Journal of Discourses 4: 297- 298
“In the days of
Joseph, when
the revelation came to him and Sidney Rigdon, while translating that
portion of the New Testament contained in the 29th verse of the third chapter of
John in reference to the different degrees of glory, I was not prepared to say
that I believe it, and I had to wait. What did I do? I handed this over to the
Lord in my feelings, and said I, "I will wait until the
Spirit of God manifests to me, for or against." I did not judge the matter, I
did not argue against it, not in the least. I never argued the least
against anything Joseph proposed, but if I could not see or understand it, I
handed it over to the Lord. This is my counsel to you, my brethren and sisters,
and if I were sure my prophecy would be fulfilled, I certainly would prophesy
that all here, who profess to be Latter-day Saints, will come
into the holy Order and rejoice in it. And if you
do not feel to come into the Order, assist those who do, and do not say anything
against them. You who come into the Order, do not lisp anything against those
who do not; if you feel right you will not have the least feeling against them.
Come along, for, as I have said, if I do
not find more than fifty men
in the kingdom of God who will go with me to organize the Church and kingdom of
God more perfectly, I shall go ahead. What for? More knowledge, wisdom, and
perfection in the management and control of our temporal affairs. This is
what I calculate to do, and I am going to do. Ask me if I am going into the
Order with all that I have? Yes, as I told them in a meeting not long ago, I am
going in with hat, coat, vest, pants, shirt, boots, and all I have.
And if the question is asked, If your family do
not go into the Order, what
are you going to do with your property? I am going to seal it up to the kingdom
of God, for I do not mean that the enemies of the
kingdom shall have a penny if I can help it. I want
it to go the kingdom of God, I want it appropriated for the salvation of the
human family, to build Temples, to sustain the families of
the Elders who go abroad to
preach; I want it to be used for the good of the poor and for the establishing
of truth and righteousness on the earth. That is all it is
for; I have no pleasure in it, I have no delight in it, it is nothing to me; I
want everything that the Lord places in my possession, my time, my talents,
every ability I have, every penny that he has committed to me to be used to his
glory, and for the building up of his kingdom on the earth. I have nothing but
what he has committed to me. What do you say to that, Jacob? Is that
right? It is exactly. There is not a man here who has got his sight, hearing,
taste and smell, but he is indebted to the Lord for them.
The Lord gave us everything we possess, whatever ability or talents we
have; our Tabernacles and all we enjoy, are the gifts of the Lord, and all
should be devoted to the promotion of his kingdom on the earth, and I mean that
mine shall be, the Lord being my helper.”

“...continuing revelation and leadership for the
Church come through the President of the Church,
and he will never mislead the Saints."
James Faust, General Conference, Of the Mormon Church in
April
"1996"
"Follow your
leaders who have been duly ordained and have been publicly sustained, and
you will not be led astray."
Boyd K. Packer, General Conference, Oct. 1992;
Ensign, Nov. 1992
"I want to give you
my testimony that the Lord will not permit any man to lead His Church astray."
Gordon B. Hinckley,
talk given on January 21, 1996, reprinted in the
Ensign magazine, June 1996
"What a pity it
would be if we were led by one man to utter destruction! Are you afraid of this?
I am more afraid that this people have so much confidence in their leaders that
they will not inquire for themselves of God whether they are led by Him. I am
fearful they settle down in a state of blind self-security, trusting their
eternal destiny in the hands of their leaders with a reckless confidence that in
itself would thwart the purposes of God in their salvation, and weaken that influence they could give to their leaders, did
they know for themselves, by the revelations of Jesus, that they are led in the
right way. Let
every man and woman know, by the whispering of the Spirit of God to themselves,
whether their leaders are walking in the path the Lord dictates, or not. This has been my exhortation continually."
Brigham Young, January 12,
1862, Journal of Discourses, 9:151
"There are those
among this people who are influenced, controlled, and biased in their thoughts, actions, and feelings by some other individual or family, on whom
they place their dependence for spiritual and temporal instruction, and for
salvation in the end.
These persons do not depend upon themselves for
salvation, but upon another of their poor, weak, fellow mortals. I do not
depend upon any inherent goodness of my own, say they, to introduce me into the
kingdom of glory,
but I depend upon you, brother Joseph, upon you, brother Brigham,
upon you, brother Heber, or upon you, brother James;
I believe your judgment is superior to mine, and consequently I let you judge
for me; your spirit is better than mine, therefore you can do good for me;
I will submit myself wholly to you, and place in you all my confidence for life
and salvation; where you go I will go, and where you tarry there I will stay;
expecting that you will introduce me through the gates into the heavenly
Jerusalem....Now
those men, or those women,
who know no more about the power of God, and the influences of the Holy Spirit,
than to be led entirely by another person, suspending their own understanding,
and pinning their faith upon another's sleeve, will
never be capable of entering into the celestial
glory, to be crowned as they anticipate;
they will never be capable of becoming Gods. They cannot rule themselves, to say nothing of
ruling others, but
they must be dictated to in every trifle, like a child. They cannot control
themselves in the least, but James, Peter, or somebody else must control
them, They never
can become Gods, nor be crowned as rulers with glory, immortality, and eternal
lives. They never can hold scepters of glory, majesty, and power in the
celestial kingdom. Who will? Those who are valiant and inspired with the true
independence of heaven, who will go forth boldly in the service of their God,
leaving others to do as they please, determined to do right, though all mankind
besides should take the opposite course."
Brigham Young,
presented in the Salt Lake Tabernacle on February 20, 1853, found in Journal of
Discourses, 1:312
"We have heard men
who hold the priesthood remark,
that they would do anything that they were told
to do by those who preside over them, if they knew it was wrong: but such
obedience is worse than folly to us; it is slavery in the extreme; and the man who would thus willingly degrade himself, should not
claim rank among intelligent beings, until he turns from his folly.
A man of God...would
despise the idea. Others in the extreme exercise of their almighty authority have
taught that such obedience was necessary, and that no matter what the saints
were told to do by their presidents, they should do it without asking any
questions.
When
Elders of Israel will so far indulge in these extreme notions of obedience as to
teach them to the people, it is generally because they have it in their minds to
do wrong themselves."
Apostle Samuel Richards on Nov.
13, 1852, recorded in the Millennial Star, 14:393-395
"Some may say,
Brethren, you who lead the Church, we have all confidence in you, we are not in the least afraid but what everything will go right
under your superintendence; all the business matters will be transacted right;
and if brother
Brigham is satisfied with it,
I am. I do not wish any Latter-day Saint in this
world, nor in heaven, to be satisfied with anything I do, unless the Spirit of
the Lord Jesus Christ, the spirit of revelation, makes them satisfied.
I
wish them to know for themselves and understand for themselves, for this would
strengthen the faith that is within them. Suppose that the people were heedless, that they manifested no concern with regard to the things of the
kingdom of God, but threw the whole burden upon the leaders of the people,
saying, If the brethren who take charge of matters are satisfied,
we are, this is not pleasing in
the sight of the Lord.
Every man and woman in this kingdom ought to be
satisfied with what we do, but they never should be
satisfied without asking the Father, in the
name of Jesus Christ, whether what we do is right." Brigham Young, October 6, 1855, Journal of
Discourses, 3:45
". . . in the midst
of all that we hear from this stand with regard to counsel and implicit
obedience to counsel, you and I must have the testimony of Jesus within us, or it is of but little use for us to pretend to be servants of
God.
We must have that living witness within us.
We need the light of the Holy Spirit
continually, day by day, as you have been told hundreds of times. How
easy it would be for your leaders to lead you to destruction, unless you
actually know the mind - and will of the Spirit yourselves. That is your privilege." Brigham
Young, June 28, 1857, Journal of Discourses, 4: 368

“Where has the power of God been
since the death of Joseph? With this people. They say, these apostates, that
Brigham Young organized the endowments and originated the principle of
plural marriage. They're liars, every one of them, and the truth is not

she and I both had our endowments under the hands of the Prophet Joseph
Smith. I had my second anointings and sealings
under his hands.
There is not a single principle in this Church that he did
not lay the foundation for; he called the Twelve together the last time he spoke
to us, and his face shone like amber. And upon our shoulders he rolled the
burden of the Kingdom, and he gave us
all the keys and powers and gifts to carry on this great and mighty work. He
told us that he had received every key, every power and every gift for the
salvation of the living and the dead, and he said: "Upon the Twelve I seal these
gifts and powers and keys from henceforth and forever. No matter what may
come to me. And I lay this work upon your shoulders. Take it and bear it
off, and if you don't, you'll be damned." Collected Discourses,
