Many people who read this will think I'm nuts or crazy or weird because I don't give up. But I'm willing to be considered as such "if" they will do what is necessary to save their children. A lady in St. George got a settlement from the U.S. Government for the damage to her thyroid gland because of the fallout from the Nevada Nuclear Tests. Those tests were mini-bombs compared to the maxi-bombs of today! When fallout from Las Vegas, Nellis Air Force Base, and California does come across Utah the radioactive Iodine 133 and 131 will expose every child to potential damage like the girl in St. George. Without protection which costs 1.00 for "LUGOLS SOLUTION -OR "POTASSIUM IODIDE", many and perhaps most of the children exposed will never grow to maturity. A 3 or 4 year old child would not grow. and at age 14 would still wear the same size clothes. The Thyroid gland regulates growth. I don't want to sea thousands of kids made dwarfs because nobody cares enough to protect them. Adults can also expect damage, because after 10 or 15 years many will get cancer of the thyroid in the neck. If you're 60, 70, 80 now perhaps you're not worried about years ahead, but a lot of younger people should get protection now.

SSKI Adult's 5 drops from an eyedropper and children 3 drops daily taken by mouth for 100 days after the fallout starts. Actually take it as soon as you hear that Russia has started the attack and that fallout is coming. Any good pharmacist knows about
"LUGOLS SOLUTION" is almost impractical because it has been used for over 100 years and needs no prescription but it is so weak it takes many- many drops to be effective. (20 drops PER day) of nasty tasting stuff.

It is different than SSKI. But every pharmacy should have it.
The next thing that everyone should have is a good supply of calcium tablets to take to help them resist the Strontium 90 and Cesium 131 in the fallout, which will settle in their bones "if" they are not supercharged with "excess" calcium in their body. Bone marrow, which is destroyed, will slow down recovery and perhaps even cause death if the radiation exposure is heavy enough.

Everyone should have a good supply of table salt and Baking Soda on hand to mix with water to drink. Radiation exposure will cause nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea all together at the same time. That depletes the body fluids which cannot be replaced just with water or juice The body electrolytes can be replaced with 1/2 teaspoon of Baking Soda, plus 1 teaspoon of salt mixed well in one quart of water. Each person should have 14 gallons of water stored and should drink more then normal, or they want to. To help flush the effects of the fallout from their body in the urine. (I wrote this letter back in 1986, NOW that I have learned more I say to store 30-40 gallons of water.)

Blankets and a lot of toilet paper and garbage bags to carry to a basement somewhere. Have as much solid material overhead as possible. Move all the furniture in the house to one room overhead you to help stop those gamma ray bullets, which are like deer rifle bullets. But you cannot feel, smell taste, or hear them. They just keep killing your body cells until you get sick enough to die. 
Plan to stay sheltered a week at least. (NOW I say plan for 2 weeks.) 

Buy a few "cases" of those "Cup Noodles" 12 Per Case cost about $3 Per Case. Just add hot water and eat. It's bland enough to keep you satisfied. Get "Lots" of crackers! 
Eat bland foods, not hard to digest, have multiple vitamins and minerals to take and don't take aspirin because it will cause your stomach to bleed internally because of radiation. I hope you and your loved ones make it through this. There is 1000 years of the Millennium ahead. It's not the end of the world. Things are going to be fantastic someday, I have seen it.  What is radioactive iodine?  Every nuclear detonation produces radioactive iodine 131 and 133. These components have a half life of 8 days. That means in 8 days they have decayed to just ½ of their original strength. You need protection for 100 days of their ½ lives. The radioactive iodine is attracted to your thyroid gland in your neck. Your entire blood supply passes through your thyroid gland every 17 minutes. That gland regulates your hormone supply in your body and the amount of oxygen that your red blood cells can carry. The thyroid gland is the most sensitive organ in your body to “any radioactivity.” If your thyroid gland is destroyed then in about 10 years you are at tremendous risk for cancer. The best way to protect your thyroid gland is to have it fully loaded with iodine in the form of “Potassium iodide”  in the form as SSKI (Saturated Solution); Potassium iodide crystals in a bottle with an eyedropper. When you need to have your thyroid gland overloaded or very full, supercharged with iodine then add water to the bottle to the arrow mark and shake for 5 minutes. The solution works best at body temperature about 98 degrees. Hold the bottle in your arm pit or crotch for a few minutes to warm it up. Take 5 drops for Adults, 3 drops for kids and 1 drop for infants. Twice the dose rate does not help. You just can’t over fill the glass. Too much is just wasted. Take those amounts at the same time every day for 100 days.

Now that your thyroid gland is protected you need to have any multi-vitamin to take daily. Also Vitamin C and Calcium supplements, so that radioactive Strontium 90 is not attracted to your bones. Strontium 90 will replace calcium if you are not overloaded with calcium. The marrow in your bones is where your blood cells are made.

If marrow in the bone is destroyed then your body can’t make blood, and you just get sick and die. There is no medicine or any kind of supplement that can fully protect you from nuclear fallout.
You must keep your exposure to as minimum as you can under every circumstance. Your body in full health does have the ability to repair some damage from nuclear fallout exposure. You need to keep your exposure below 10 “Roentgens” per day or 10 “R” per day. Stay sheltered until the fallout has decayed down to ½ “R” per hour. Listen to the radio 640 and 1240 am. To hear Civil Defense broadcasts for your area and the fallout “R” rates on the ground. Have a small battery radio you can purchase for $10 dollars. Then you can go out for a few hours for supplies and keep your exposure rate recorded some where. Every “R” that you receive will take about 1 day off of your life span. Some people like medical people and truckers, and law enforcement people will sacrifice themselves to exposure to get supplies and to help others in urgent need. Those are the real hero’s.   Not some music or sports hero! Realize that you need to find some basement below ground  to spend time in while fallout is dangerous. You need a lot of mass between you and the fallout. Get to the most inside room. Just think of some Deer Hunters shooting at you with HI-powered rifles. Get enough “MASS” to stop those bullets from hitting you. You can survive when stupid ignorant people will just kill themselves and their families. See my web site.

What is radioactive iodine?
One of the most feared consequences of a nuclear reactor accident or nuclear bomb is the release of a radioactive iodine plume into the environment. Radioactive Iodine (I-131 and 133) is a by-product of nuclear fission which occurs only within a nuclear reactor or during detonation of a nuclear bomb. What makes radioactive iodine so dangerous is that the body cannot distinguish it from ordinary iodine. As a result, if swallowed (in contaminated food or water), or inhaled (it can remain in the atmosphere for many days), it will be absorbed into the thyroid gland (only the thyroid absorbs iodine) and may lead to thyroid cancer, especially in children. The value of Potassium Iodide (KI) was demonstrated following the Chernobyl nuclear accident, where authorities began mass distribution of Potassium Iodide just hours after the explosion. In the years following the accident in areas where people received the drug, the incidence of thyroid cancer has not increased. But where Potassium Iodide was not distributed, previously rare forms of juvenile thyroid cancer have begun appearing at epidemic rates, with over 11,000 known cases. This number continues to rise and is not expected to peak until 2010, from the 1986 Chernobyl accident.
